"How do I get a blurry background?!"

This is probably in the top 5 of questions we get asked the most from beginners! And I totally understand why!

It wasn't all that long ago that I was in the same boat. I had a "nice" camera in my hands, knew what I wanted, but was so frustrated when I couldn't get the subject of my image to really POP out from the rest of the scene.

I painstakingly tried editing the background in Photoshop. After hours of editing, several Youtube-blackholes, and a few new grey hairs, I was, too say the least, disheartened. I knew there must be a better way.

And, of course, there was. While it's 100% possible to edit the background into blurry perfection, it's a time-sucking, awful way to do it! There are MUCH easier ways to get that bokeh dream we are all looking for.

Through a lot of trial and error, helpful guidance from some amazing professionals, and taking the time to learn my camera's settings, I've come to a list of SIMPLE ways to get the blurry background!!

We've put it together a PDF reference guide so that you can easily download it on your devices and pull it up when you need a quick refresher!!
